Composer, Multi-Instrumentalist & Music Producer

Born and raised in Brazil, Marcelo Conti is a composer and music director with over 15 years of experience creating original music for film and audiovisual storytelling. His work includes more than 200 original compositions and scores for 14 feature-length documentary films broadcast on major European television networks, as well as recent Brazilian narrative features produced for cinema.

Marcelo approaches composition as narrative architecture. His work integrates orchestral writing, contemporary production and cross-cultural musical knowledge to shape cohesive sonic identities aligned with each project’s visual language and dramaturgical structure. Music is treated not as accompaniment, but as an integral storytelling element.

Rather than stylistic collage, his compositions emerge from context — balancing emotional resonance, structural clarity and cultural awareness.

Education & Musical Path

Marcelo holds a Bachelor of Music from the Brazilian Conservatory of Music (2009), majoring in Brazilian Popular Music (Strings). His artistic formation, however, extends beyond formal education and is deeply rooted in performance, collaboration and lived musical experience.

As a multi-instrumentalist, he has engaged with diverse traditions including jazz, samba, Indian and Persian classical music, Cuban rhythms, Uruguayan candombe, African traditions, European classical music and contemporary pop. These experiences were developed through direct collaboration with musicians embedded in their respective cultures, shaping an embodied and contextual understanding of musical language.

Having lived and studied in different countries, his creative process remains informed by cultural exchange, interdisciplinary dialogue and continuous exploration.

The Studio

Marcelo works from his personal studio in Rio de Janeiro — a dedicated environment for composing, recording and producing music for film and television. Designed to support both acoustic and electronic workflows, the studio integrates traditional instruments and contemporary production tools.

From early sketches to final delivery, the space functions as a compositional laboratory, enabling close collaboration with directors, musicians and producers throughout the creative process.

AVOA Music

AVOA Music is a creative music agency founded and artistically directed by Marcelo Conti. Operating under Conti Music Publishing Ltd., the agency is based in the UK with creative operations in Brazil.

AVOA works across original film score production, curated catalogue licensing and hybrid music solutions for international audiovisual projects. Acting as both creative partner and production framework, the agency ensures artistic coherence, production efficiency and clear communication across all stages of the musical process.
